A. Brief History and Doctrine
Grace Reformed Baptist Church (GRBC), Cape Coast, begun in January 2000, when a handful of friends seceded from a Ghana Baptist Convention church because the denomination had seriously begun to abandon her Scriptural moorings. GRBC is an independent Reformed Baptist congregation that hold to the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith. We are therefore Calvinistic in persuasion along with its consistent emphasis on reverent and orderly worship, as regulated by the Scriptures only, the centrality of Gospel preaching in which the Triune God alone is exalted in the salvation secured through the blood and righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ and seeking by the grace of God, through the enabling of His Holy Spirit, to teach and reflect the whole counsel of God as revealed in the Scriptures in the believer’s and church’s life and labours for the Lord. For a church’s teachings and practices in both worship and Gospel work, in fact, in all it seeks to do as a Christian body, must be drawn from the Scriptures alone and none else, and for the sole glory and honour of the Lord. As such we are a non-Charismatic church, holding to the cessation of the sign and revelatory gifts of the Holy Spirit. Yet we are persuaded that the Holy Spirit is mightily needed as always to work spiritual life and true godliness in individual lives and churches today.
